Meet the Family

This is Matt while running his first trail race here locally. He LOVED it and will run as many of them as we can stand. In this race, he finished 2nd in his age group and 7th overall. YEA! He also ran the San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon on June 1st and survived. He has finally found a culture that supports his habit - running!
This is Sharon and Cade at the Zoo. We rode the gondola across the park so it was a bit windy up there. I'm usually the one taking the pics so I couldn't find many to choose from to post.
Here is Jayci riding her daddy's shoulders at Point Loma, her new favorite place to visit. They have tons of "cremmy crabs" (hermit crabs, even though they aren't really hermit crabs but plain ol' ocean crabs) in the tidal pools. She loves to see them but will NOT get close.
Here's Cade. At 16 months he's quite a handfull. Tonight he bit his sister so hard it left red marks on her face until bedtime. He's such a boy. What's odd is that even though the biting is an issue from time to time, he's very loveable and cuddly.
That's right, you're looking at the latest addition to our family, Sprout. I'm 11 weeks pregnant and sick as a dog! This pregnancy is so much different than the other two, I'm not sure it's a boy or a girl! I'm betting on a monkey. One thing's for sure though, it's only ONE!!! The baby's due in early Feb. and don't worry . . . . we'll keep you posted! (Pun totally intended.)

Welcome to my blog!!! Yes, I've finally joined the world and started a blog! I've named this blog "Soakin Up the Day" for many reasons. First of all, it's how I feel most days in our new location. I also find myself soakin' up my kids and the cute and funny things they do each day. I also LOVE the song "Blessed" by Martina McBride and "soakin' up the day" is one of my favorite lines in the song. I have listed the lyrics below so you can see what an awesome song this really is! It is my lifesong and my inspiration on tough days. . . . .

I have been kissed by the sun each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughin'
Down the hall through the bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my front porch swing
Just soakin' up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place
I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every dayI have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me

To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed
Across a crowded room
I know you know what I'm thinkin'
By the way I look at you
And when we're lying in the quiet
And no words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful giftI have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every dayI have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed
When I'm...
When I'm singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
I knowI am so blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed
